BIOGRAPY
Felipe III of Spain, called "the Pious", was born
on April 14, 1578 in Madrid (Crown of Castile) and died on March 31, 1621(with
42 years old) in Madrid (Crown of Castile).
Felipe III died because of fevers
and erysipelas.
He was buried in the Monastery of El Escorial.
He was king of Spain and Portugal from September 13, 1598
until his death.
He was son and successor of Felipe II and Ana de Austria .
In 1598 he married in the Cathedral of Santa María in Valencia with the
Archduchess Margaret of Austria-Styria, daughter of the Archduke Charles II of
Styria and Maria Anna of Bavaria. Under his reign Spain reached its maximum
territorial expansion.
A fan of theater, painting and, above all, hunting, he
delegated the affairs of government in the hands of its valid, the Duke of
Lerma. This was replaced in 1618 Duke of
Uceda.
